Marvin Gaye made Whats Goin On and Mercy Me. Which were two of the more consciously aware songs ever made. They spoke on the times and how the world was changing for better and for worse. What's amazing about his lyrics is how they still relate to the world we live in today. Tupac Shakur is another example of an artist who took the time to speak on the issues the affect our daily lives. In most cases, he kept it raw and uncut, which is the same way of the streets. Some use this platform to educate and influence, while most use the music avenue to spew out hot garbage to glorify materialistic things. Alot of the people use to music as an outlet because the images they see of their idols is what they feel is a reflection of themselves in most cases. Music is such a dynamic way to communicate with those around us and influence as well. I feel that the music I treat my ears to should be food for thought, or its a waste of time. And at this point we need more to speak the language of our times because it is needed like yesterday. Its deeper than music....
