**A Good Watch** Douglass High School, Webster Groves St. Louis

Each year in February, the Webster Groves High School varsity Statesmen basketball team dons purple and gold uniforms to honor the memory of Douglass High School, the only African-American high school in St. Louis County. Douglass, in north Webster, educated students from 1925 until the landmark Supreme Court decision that desegregated schools in 1954. Douglass, accredited by the prestigious North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, was known for its rigorous academic standards, its arts program and an outstanding faculty. This video, shown during half-time at a recent basketball game, chronicles Douglass' history and its place in the history of Webster Groves.
